Workin' For A Livin'

2006-09-15 - 12:41 p.m.

Another early afternoon post today.

I got called in to work today. I was asked to come in at about 8:30 to help repair a game. Our Time Crisis 4 developed a bad glitch - the left big-screen went totally out of convergence. (Technical Explanation: Big-screens [a lot of them] have three lenses that shoot color images onto a large screen. The lenses typically shoot red, blue, and green. Where they merge - and based on the intensity and tone of the color - we get other colors. When the lenses are out of convergence, you can see the separate red/blue/green images because they are not all shooting at the same point...it looks like it's out of focus.)

After a lot of calls, e-mails, and some screaming, Namco sent us a new "lightbox"...basically, the guts of the big-screen. And it was up to us to take out the old one and put it back in. Swell.

So I went in and helped my manager install it. It took an hour, but it was worth it - the image is now crisp and clear and...dare I say it...perfect.

Now, this is a warranty repair. But Namco wants us to ship the broken "lightbox" back to them. At OUR cost.

Time for more e-mails.

Yesterday, I ate well, walked for thirty minutes, then came home to settle in for the Angels-Texas game...and promptly fell asleep. I woke up in time to catch the last inning-and-a-half. The Angels won, 2-1.

I never did get my pizza. But that's okay...I didn't need the calories.

From the Out On DVD Dept.:

I picked up the newest versions of the Star Wars DVDs. These are the two-disc sets that have the original theatrical releases and the "updates". At $14 each, I couldn't resist. (Han shot FIRST, dammit!!)

Also: Would you believe...

Time for more exercise.

Be seeing you.
