Sick Boys

2007-01-02 - 1:04 p.m.

Looks like I came down with the cold that the rest of the world got. My guess is, one of the reindeer wasn't feeling too well - he sneezed and gave the flu to everyone during the trip.

Woke up with a coughing jag around 4:15am. One Hall's drop and I was back asleep in about five minutes. Also, my nose has been clogging, and the CPAP pressure doesn't always force through the blockage. So I wake up because I literally can't breathe. Again, a fast nose-blow and I'm good for the rest of the night.

So far, though...the plusses far outweigh the minuses.

Well, the Democrats have already broken one of their first promises for this new Congress - they are planning on keeping the Republicans sidelined.

Here's a quote from the article:

But instead of allowing Republicans to fully participate in deliberations, as promised after the Democratic victory in the Nov. 7 midterm elections, Democrats now say they will use House rules to prevent the opposition from offering alternative measures, assuring speedy passage of the bills and allowing their party to trumpet early victories.

So much for being willing to work with Republicans.

And the interesting thing is, the Dems are going to use the same measures that, when Republicans used them, they claimed were unfair and gave too much power.

So I guess it's politics as usual.

In the spirit of the New Year, the always hilarious Dave Barry weighs in on the past year.

Well, before I deliver Brin unto Bob for studio recording (that's the only reason she comes down here, really), I need to make a stop at Fry's. Actual honest-to-Emeril Rival Crock Pots are on sale today for $10.

I can't pass that up.

Be seeing you.
