How Do You Do?

2007-10-25 - 8:43 a.m.

Well, Brin and I are up very early (on my day off, no less) to make a run to the Park. We plan to meet some fellow bloggers for a bit of California enjoyment. It's the first face-to-face for all of us, but Disneyland is a good familiar place to meet new people.

Thankfully, the Santa Ana winds have quit, and the heat from the last three days (mostly from the fires) has abated - they're calling for a high of 85 degrees instead of the 100 that it has been.

Maybe we can even finally try the Nemo ride.

===

And now, your global warming moment of Zen:

Remember when the British judge found nine "factual errors" in Al Gore's global warming propaganda film? Well, the film was looked at by the Science & Public Policy Institute.

They didn't find nine errors. In fact, they found thirty-five errors.

But don't forget, they're all in the pocket of the oil companies...and President Bush.

===

Speaking of global warming...

Here's a teensy item on Drudge:

According to notes from CNN's Monday news meeting network president Jon Klein tells employees to use the California fire tragedy to "push" their "Planet in Peril" special, but warns reporters not to "irresponsibly link" the fires to "Global Warming."

You have GOT to be shitting me. Did it get so hot that the trees spontaneously combusted? Or are they talking about the winds? You idiots - the Santa Ana winds blow through here EVERY YEAR AT THIS TIME. I've lived in this area for almost thirty years, and every year the Santa Anas blow, and every year there's a fire warning due to the "hot and dry" conditions.

Yes, even thirty years ago, when they were afraid of a "coming ice age".

===

And speaking of CNN...

CNN will be off the air in Israel, due to "anti-Israeli bias".

What will it be replaced with? None other than Al-Jazeera in English.

Like THAT'S better.

===

Okay. First brekkie, then the Park.

Whoops, shower's free.

Be seeing you.

That Science And Public Policy Institute's sole purpose is to refute global warming, and it is funded by Exxon and neo-cons.

And that makes the errors non-existent?

Besides, if you want to get into the funding issue - all the PRO-GW scientists are also getting paid. All that grant money is going somewhere.

Dave, glad you made the point about funding, funding, funding...even though it's pointless to try to convince Smed with real science -- he's one of those sad folks who believes in global warming as a religion. I've seen Jim Hudnall and Toren Smith bury him in accurate data, and the guy just won't accept the truth. Sad, because when too many people are arrogant in their ignorance, they end up supporting legislation that causes more problems than it solves. I KNOW about that from personal experience, 'cause I'm an environmental claims consultant, and deal with trying to fix the problems bad environmental laws have created every bloody week!

As soon as Smed resumes living in a multi unit dwelling and remains there, drives less than four thousand miles a year, and spends ever work hour of his day making sure toxic waste is cleaned up, then he will have just as much validity as my husband John. Otherwise, forget it.
