Good Vibrations

2007-12-21 - 3:20 p.m.

Afternoon, all. Hope I didn't keep you waiting too long. I had a doctor's appointment this morning. The follow-ups took awhile, so I was there for a couple hours.

How are things? Good and bad.

My overall cholesterol is a bit lower, but the "bad" level is high. My blood pressure is down, but not enough. My blood sugar is high, but not too bad. The bad things are bad, but still fixable.

So I got some new meds and I have a follow-up appointment in a month.

Oh, and the doctor agreed - having the kitteh is a Good Thing.

Then I did a bit of Christmas shopping and had a nice lunch at Red Robin. Then I stopped over at my ex's home - a Christmas card arrived there, from a relative who didn't have my current address. My ex very nicely left it where I could swing by and pick it up, so I did so.

Then I came home to do rounds and post.

Saw this over on Hud: more scientists - more than 400 of them - are challenging Al Gore's claims about AGW.

Gore's people responded thusly:

After a quick review of the report, Gore spokeswoman Kalee Kreider said 25 or 30 of the scientists may have received funding from Exxon Mobil Corp.

So I guess the other 370-375 don't count.

Even if a scientist is being paid (and don't tell me the pro-AGW aren't - those grants are coming from somewhere), why should we instead believe a politician with no scientific expertise? A politician who only has flawed computer models, using questionable data? A politician who "talks the talk" while flying around in a private jet? A politician who was quoted in 2006 as saying it was "appropriate to have an over-representation of factual presentations on how dangerous it [global warming] is" (emphasis mine)?

===

Well, time for a nap and then the gig.

Be seeing you.

Ultimately, policy on climate change IS being dictated by a bunch of politicians with no scientific expertise, not just Gore and his phear-the-global-warming dance. You can't tell me the shindig in Bali was anything but a global 'let's look like we're doing something' party. Impending doom and cocktail parties, no doubt.
