Rack 'Em Up

2008-03-24 - 12:46 p.m.

Usual weekend nonsense...except the LitterMaid catbox arrived on Friday. I set it up, put litter in in, ran the cleaner...and it scared Solange.

So I followed the instructions for acclimating. I turned the auto-clean off, and ran in manually for the weekend. She's using the box, and now she's at least used to the cleaning bar. Soon I should be able to turn it on and leave it on.

Which is a good thing, since the temperature jumped into the 90s on Sunday. The smell is already disappating faster.

The head of the Internation Panel on Climate Control has acknowledged that the earth has cooled since 1998, and that temperatures have in fact "plateaued" since 2002...despite the fact that there's more CO2 in the atmosphere. But they said more CO2 will CAUSE global warming, when it fact temperatures have LEVELED OFF!

A quote:

These findings actually aren't being disputed by the meteorological community. They're having trouble digesting the findings, they're acknowledging the findings, they're acknowledging that the data from NASA's Aqua satellite is not how the models predict, and I think they're about to recognise that the models really do need to be overhauled and that when they are overhauled they will probably show greatly reduced future warming projected as a consequence of carbon dioxide.

The pro-AGW folk have been using computer models with flawed data - models that couldn't even predict what had already happened. But there was so much money to be made! And world policy to be enforced - industrialized nations had to slow down (tell that to China, whose use of coal to heat homes has actually caused their outputs to increase BEYOND the US)! And LOCAL policy - no more fireplaces, because they contribute to greenhouse gases! And it put Al Gore back in the news!

AGW is bullshit, people. It's always been about the grant money and the "carbon offsets". Besides, we need to get back to dealing with Britney Spears.

It's been awhile since I've linked to a Mark Steyn column. Here he weighs in on the Obama/Wright controversy.

I think Steyn makes good points. Just something to think about.

I've taken to reading some new webcomics. In addition to Pibgorn (link at left), Girl Genius (ditto), and Buck Godot, there's The Inexplicable Adventures Of Bob, Doctor Voluptua (NSFW), the fairy-tale of Xylia, and the anime-influenced El Goonish Shive.

Some nice time-wasters in there. Enjoy.

"Former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer has reportedly entered therapy for a sex addiction. Spitzer said his therapy is going well and that his therapist has a fantastic rack."
-Conan O'Brien

(Well, I had to find SOMETHING for today's title - it's harder than it looks [so to speak].)

I need to stalk and kill some lunch. And then, of course, work.

Be seeing you.

Well, it's no wonder that a libertarian / conservative think tank would trot out someone to cherry pick stats. Of course, a BIOLOGIST knows about climate. Much like I'd ask an chemist about flowers. Oh, and Steyn says this, but what about McCain's friends Hagee and Parsley??? Hmmm??

Ah, but you have no complaints when Gore or any other pro-AGW group "cherry-picks" stats to further THEIR cause. As for McCain, I don't know why he isn't trying to distance himself further. But there IS a difference between endorsing and "being endorsed" - this blog could "be endorsed" by the KKK, but that doesn't mean I endorse THEIR beliefs. Supposedly McCain "sought out" the endorsement of Hagee, but that's according to the NY Times, and we all know how objective THEY are.

I always thought those things would scare the crap out of the cats. Hah. No pun intended there...really. As for the global warming myth, rock on, Dave!! Unfortunately, the few, the proud, and the ignorant won't ever listen to the truth. Our society will wind up being shanghaied by them.

Steyn asserts that Wright's views must be Obama's, and, thus, Obama would kowtow to Ahmadinejad, because Iran's President is just like Wright! Never mind that 'spiritual advisor' has been shaded to mean 'political and diplomatic advisor' and 'Obama is Wright's sock puppet'. Some awfully loose reasoning there, and it's ironic that it appears in an entry lambasting the pro-AGW legions for their logical misfires.
