Work news - we got a new fighting game, where all the characters are young females and there's lots of fan service.

The National Resources Defense Action Council is putting out full-page ads calling off-shore drilling "100% snake oil". It asks folks who go to its website to send a pre-written letter to Congress - I guess they don't trust folks to be smart enough to articulate their own opinions.

The Washington Post takes three of their claims and debunks them.

This article in the National Journal says concern over global warming has waned.

What it doesn't say is if the drop also includes people who figured out that it's a crock.

The guy who created the Obama "salute" responds to critics, and also says he wants it to be the "peace sign of our generation". Evidently he believes that over 7,000 website hits constitutes a "raving success".

Egad. And it's not even original - check out this classic Start Trek episode.

Maybe he thinks anyone who supports McCain is a Herbert.

Who needs to be a Herbert? Don't forget - Dr. Severin was insane and led his followers to their deaths. (I suppose he was supposed to be an allegorical stand-in for Manson.)

True, he WAS insane. But he didn't KNOW that the planet was poisonous until he got there - and then he stayed. His surviving followers, once they realized where they'd been led, smartened up and came back to the Enterprise.

If Obama is elected, this may very well prove prophetic after all.
