The Voice

2008-09-02 - 12:29 p.m.

Don LaFontaine has passed.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? We'll miss hearing his work. And at least he had a sense of humor about himself - witness the Geico commercial he did.

You'll see a lot of articles starting with his catchphrase "In a world where...". That's how iconic the man was.

Maybe God had laryngitis and needed some help.

In the STFU Dept.:

The rumors that Sarah Palin's youngest child is actually her grandchild have been proven to be false. Barack Obama released the following statement:

"I have said before and I will repeat again: People's families are off limits ... And people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president. So I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18 and how a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn't be a topic of our politics."

IMHO, if they insert themselves in with speeches and campaigning, then they are fair game. Like Bill Clinton. Or Michelle Obama.

Oh, and let me make it clear - the STFU was not directed at Obama's statement. It was directed at the "source" at DailyKos who posted the "news" about Palin. Just wanted to clear that up.

Rev. Jeremiah Wright is at it again:

"This ordinary boy [Obama] just might be the first president in the history of the United States to have a black woman sleeping at 1600 Pennsylvania legally," Wright said, referring to Michelle Obama, in a sermon at the Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church in Houston.

It was unclear whether Wright was making a reference to prostitution, to old miscegenation laws, or to the history of illicit interracial sex under slavery.

You mean, out of all the "guests" Bill Clinton had at his sleepovers at the White House (for contributions, of course), not one was black? I am shocked - SHOCKED, I say.

And I bet Wright gets a pass for calling Obama "boy".

Well, the band is playing a private party on Saturday, and today I meet with the host to look over the site. Then on to work.

So I'm outta here.

Be seeing you.
