I Me Mine

2008-10-23 - 12:55 p.m.

Temperature is down to 93. No word if Al Gore is pleased.

The president of Argentina plans to nationalize the pension system of that country, making over $30 billion in (currently) individually-held retirement accounts government property.

Here's the "money" quote:

When the Argentine government ran out of money in 2001, it blamed the market and increased its own role in the economy. Since then it has imposed price controls, defaulted on its debt, seized dollar bank accounts, devalued the currency, nationalized businesses and tried to set confiscatory tax rates with the aim of making society more "fair."

So according to Madame President, if you have more money than someone else, it is "fair" that the government decide how much you should keep. The government then takes away what IT (not YOU, who earned the money and/or saved it) feels you don't need, and gives it to someone else with less...all in the interest of being "fair".

Sound familiar?

A petition has been signed by more than 3,000 educators protesting the "demonization of Professor William Ayers", saying his violent past is "just history".

Just "history". Gee, the same thing could be said of the 9/11 bombers. Or the Manson killings. Or Michael Vick. And Ayers is on record saying he has "no regrets", and wished his group had done more.

Let's see. Frivolous lawsuit - check. Judge tosses it out of court - check. Plaintiff (a judge) loses his position for embarrassing his profession - check. Plaintiff back before appeals court, saying he deserves his money anyway - check.

The $54 million Case Of The Missing Pants is back.

Michael Myers has nothing on this case.

In other stupid people news, the beauty queen I spoke of yesterday will lose her crown for her actions. Let's recap: she and her friends decided not to pay for a meal at a restaurant so they bailed...leaving her purse behind...with ID...and containing Xanax and pot.

Here's another stupid teenager story. In Florida...well, here's the Fark headline, which says it all:

Dumb: Making a bomb threat from your cell phone. Dumber: While you're sitting in class. Fark: While the school is on lockdown due to a death threat

Brilliant.

Tonight will most likely be a day of staying home. Or maybe a trip to the Park.

We'll see.

Be seeing you.

Midway Mania baby!!! We loved it. It's now our favorite ride of all time. We went on it 6 times, even though the line was about 45 min. long. The best ride ever. You have been on it, yes?
