The Speak Up Mambo

2008-11-04 - 11:15 a.m.

Yesterday, workers appeared to re-tile one of our sets of bathrooms. The tile and grout in there had been installed long before I started working there, and that was almost seventeen years ago.

They took out the tile, and found that the walls were plywood instead of drywall, which for all I know may have been code-acceptable in the mid-70s. So the walls have to be torn out and replaced.

What started as a three-day job will now be a two-week job.

Then I caught a man on the golf course in the act of...ummm..."watering" a tree.

Yeah. That was my response.

I kicked him out. If someone can't be civilized enough to go inside and use a bathroom, then that person shouldn't even be outside.

Today is Election Day here in the US.

Get out there and vote. Make your voice heard. Your choice may not be the one that wins, but you have the opportunity to participate in the process. Many folks in the world don't have that chance. Remember a few years ago, when all those proud Iraqis were showing their fingertips stained with purple ink? For many, that was the first time in the voting booth.

If you don't vote, you have no right to bitch.

I'll be at my polling place very shortly - I still need to shower and what-not.

Then, after I've done THIS patriotic duty, I will go get some lunch at HomeTown.

And then on Thursday, I will perform ANOTHER patriotic duty - jury duty.

So, onward into this historic day.

Be seeing you.

I weeded my way through the voting lines and did the deed late this morning. I appreciate you keeping us so well informed throughout this election process. All we can do now is wait.
