Don't You Worry

2008-11-15 - 5:32 p.m.

Egad - a weekend entry?

Yes.

If any of you have been watching the news, you're no doubt aware that there are raging wildfires here in Southern California. Well, the Brea/Yorba Linda/Anaheim Hills fires are within a few miles of me, my home, and my work.

As of this moment, the Brea fire is out - there are some hotspots, but that's no surprise. The Yorba Linda fire is still going, but the winds have died down, praise be.

The apartment has a nice coat of ash on many surfaces, but nothing some cleanup won't fix. Solange is just fine. And so am I.

Thanks for worrying.

Be seeing you.

UPDATE: As of 10pm PST, the winds have actually stopped. One of my evacuated co-workers has reported that her home seems okay - the fire went right past it. My boss, whose home is in Corona (where one of the fires started), told me at 2:30 that his home had been passed over while a home three doors down burned. No further word from him at 10pm - updates as I get them.
