When Push Comes To Shove

2009-03-02 - 11:56 a.m.

Well, somehow I came down with something this weekend. I've had a mild headache, low-grade fever (I think) and a dry, persistent cough. Advil knocked down most of the symptoms, and Robitussin took care of the cough.

But I still feel lousy enough that I re-scheduled my dentist appointment from today to later in the month.

When I helped my brother fix his computer, he gave me his old graphics card. I thought that might solve the problems I've been having with this monitor.

Well...yes and no.

This monitor still does little power surges every once in awhile. And sometimes it doesn't want to turn on properly. So a flat screen monitor is on my buy-with-tax-money list. If push comes to shove, I can get one immediately if I must.

On the plus side, this graphics card has twice the memory of my old card - which enables me to play American McGee's Alice. This is one of the few games that I couldn't play with my current system, and I didn't feel like buying a new card just to play them.

So when an opportunity came to get a free one, I took it.

After lunch yesterday, I was on my way home when I saw a pick-up truck stalled in the lane. The emergency blinkers were on, and it was just sitting there, blocking traffic. Inside was a couple and their infant son. It was pretty warm, about 75 degrees.

I swung around the corner, parked, and walked back to them. The dad (surprised that someone stopped) and I pushed the truck over to where my car was, and I gave them a jump-start that got them on their way again.

What was I supposed to do? Let them bake?

Talked to Bob. We're NOT going to be playing on March 6.

More updates as they happen.

Well, despite my illness, I still must go in to work.

Be seeing you.

sorry you are not feeling well. I've been taking this immunity stuff from cold-eze to prevent getting sick and seems to be working well for me. Also, good on you for being the good samaritan. People like you make God smile.
