![]() Lovely To See You 2006-10-26 - 8:33 a.m. Yesterday, I had the pleasure of seeing a former high school alum. Rich brought in about eight kids and three parents from a church group. He recognized me after a moment or two, and we shot the breeze while the kids got ready to play lazertag. He complimented me on my voice, and asked if I was doing anything with it. I told him about the band, and he seemed suitably impressed. Rich wasn't one of my "good friends" in high school. Matter of fact, I really didn't hang out with anybody. Those were dark and lonely days then. Oh, I had "friends" - I was actually pretty well-liked. I was amazed when I was one of those in the running for Snow King at the Winter Formal; it appeared in the weekly announcements page that got handed out every Friday back then. Most of the "popular" girls - the cheerleaders and straight-A students - would smile and say hi in the halls. But there wasn't anyone I really hung out with. I didn't get invited to parties or anything like that. I spent most of my weekends alone. At my high school reunion, I made it a point to tell some of these people how much their being nice to me had meant to me. They all seemed pretty amazed that it had had that effect. As I said last month: words. === Speaking of friends, I'm driving north to meet up with Brin and John. So it's time for another oil change and car wash. I need to get on with it. Be seeing you. === ![]() Brin - 2006-10-26 12:26:24 - ===
