Monday, Monday

2007-05-28 - 12:20 p.m.

Well, it's Monday. Memorial Day. The day set aside to honor our fallen soldiers...the brave men and women who fought for the rights we hold so dear.

Take a moment to remember them, please...even if it's while you're at the beach, or firing up the barbeque.

It's what Memorial Day is really all about.

We played for the club birthday party on Saturday night. Sunday, Rocky and I headed to a place in Diamond Bar that has hired us for a night. We wanted to get an idea on what the stage area looked like, where the electrical outlets are, and so on.

Looks like it'll be interesting. But in a good way.

Read this morning of the passing of Charles Nelson Reilly. He died on Friday, at 76.

Like Paul Lynde, he was a game show staple known for flamboyant outfits and wicked double-entendres. And, like Lynde, he was also gay. I didn't really care - I'd watch him on Match Game and the endless reruns of Lidsville and laugh.

Another person who made my childhood a little easier is gone. And again, I can only tell them when it's too late.

===

Beyond that, I'm just getting ready to go to work.

Memorial Day. Never forget them.

Never.

Be seeing you.

I hear you, Dave. I woke up praying for our soldiers in Iraq, our Vietnam vets still haunted, and all the other men and women that died protecting this country. Salute.

You know what? I never came away from anything Charles Nelson Reilly ever said or did without a smile on my face, and I never ever thought 'Boy, that guy's an asshole.' How many people in Show Bidness can you honestly say that about? What a wonderful man.
