Guns

2008-02-27 - 12:31 p.m.

Woke up this morning still sleepy, but with no sore throat or cough. Last night I had a very mild cough, primarily due to sinus drainage. What fun.

But it looks like I'm past the very worst of it.

This video was posted last year. The following statement was given:

No one will be able to be armed. We will take all weapons. Only law enforcement will be allowed to have guns.

Then New Orleans police started confiscating guns from law-abiding citizens - just coming into their homes, putting people up against the wall (or on the curb) and just TAKING their weapons. No receipts, no warrants, no nothing. And we're not talking about guns modified into assault rifles or anything out of the ordinary - pistols, hunting rifles, even guns that had been handed down from grandparents.

According to the statement posted with the video, a year later the guns still haven't been returned. People are being told that they have to show the receipt to get it back. How will they find the receipt for a gun handed down through a generation or two?

The gun control folk think that, if guns are outlawed, crime will go down. What they continue to fail to realize is criminals don't care - the bad guys will get guns and use them on folks that won't have them. "Gun-free zones" are smorgasboards to the crooks. They banned guns in Washington, D.C., and crime went up - tremendously.

John Stossel weighs in here on guns and crime. Worth a look.

Two weeks from now - new South Park episodes.

Cool.

Be seeing you.

There are a whole slew of reasons why crime is up in DC. I think the abject poverty and the broken school system is the main key to the crime rate. No chance and no future for those poor souls.
