We Just Disagree

Up early. Cleaned the litterbox. Put the trash out for the collection. Got the mail...and put most of THAT out with the trash.

A quiet morning. Best kind.

Well, I stayed out of it as long as I could. Barack Obama made a speech about his relationship with Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Obama doesn't agree with racially inflammatory remarks. But evidently he's not going to stop using Rev. Wright as a spiritual advisor.

Which I find interesting...because Obama was one of the first to call for the resignation or termination of Don Imus. Almost a year ago, Obama said of Imus:

“There’s nobody on my staff who would still be working for me if they made a comment like that about anybody of any ethnic group."

I was listening to the John & Jeff radio show last night. Jeff was saying that this is similar to finding out your priest was a pedophile but staying with the church anyway. If your priest made speeches on the pulpit praising pedophilia, this would be a valid argument. But I'd bet that almost any congregation would leave in droves if a priest spoke like that. Obama says he wasn't there for the inflammatory sermons. That's entirely possible - but that also means no one in the congregation told him about any of the sermons, not even in a boy-did-you-miss-a-good-one-last-Sunday kind of way.

This just strikes me as being hypocritical. But then, like Hillary and McCain and all the others in Washington, he's a politician. Hypocrisy goes with the territory.

Speaking of Hillary, she's finally releasing some 11,000 pages of her activities as First Lady. And this, of course, was only under threat of a lawsuit.

According to the National Archives, the records document "nearly all of the meetings, trips, speaking engagements and social activities Clinton engaged in while her husband, Bill Clinton, served as president between 1993 and 2001".

This is her "experience"? This is what she will draw on "to lead the country at a time of war and economic uncertainty"? Meetings, trips, social activities?

I agree with the guy in the DailyKos: Saying Hillary has Executive Branch experience is like saying Yoko Ono was a Beatle.

Remember how, in the wake of the Muhammad cartoons being published again, Muslim extremists are calling for a boycott of Denmark and Danish and Norwegian products? Turns out it's not going too well - the items are still on the shelves, and are still selling.

Today I plan to get to the recycling center. Then some lunch and then work. I'll also be doing some work tomorrow, so I need to prep for that today.
