White Lines (Don't Do It)

2008-05-28 - 12:23 p.m.

Was wandering around Fry's last night and came across a two DVD set of two classic horror movies from the early 1970s - Tales From The Crypt and The Vault Of Horror. A British studio took five stories from those comics and, for each film, wrote a framework around them (similar to the Tales From The Darkside movie or Cat's Eye).

If you're familiar with the comics, you know what to expect - blood and twist endings. But what's interesting is some of the actors who appeared in the movies. Tales had Joan Collins, Patrick Magee, and Sir Ralph Richardson. Vault had Denholm Elliot (the villain in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade), Glynis Johns, and a pre-Doctor Who Tom Baker.

The set was less than $10. Of course I picked it up.

Newsweek magazine has created a "Racial Resentment Index", so whites can measure their bias against voting for Barack Obama. It should be noted that it doesn't measure racial bias for any other "race" except whites...which isn't racist, of course - only whites can be racist, right?

Remember, gang - if you disagree with anything Obama says or if you disagree with any of his policies, it's because you're a racist.

And this is just the campaign. Watch what'll happen if he gets elected.

In other Chez Too Old news, it looks like roommate Jim will be staying for the foreseeable future.

That's a load off my mind. Anyone who has suddenly had to scramble to find a roommate on short notice knows why.

Onward into the day.

Be seeing you.

Oops. Denholm Elliot played Marcus Brody, the absent-minded dean and curator of the museum. Actor Julian Glover played the industrialist/closet Nazi. (Glover also played General Veers in The Empire Strikes Back, and another rotten industrialist in For Your Eyes Only.)

Ack - you're right, Bob. Still, it was interesting to see him fifteen years before that.
