She Said She Said

Made it to Mama Cozza's yesterday. A nice big area has been cleared for the band set-up.

I figure I'll be there by 530pm or so. It's been a month since I've played. I'm looking forward to this.

Last night, a crawl came across TV Land while I was watching M*A*S*H. It said that Time Warner was going to be losing eighteen channels - not just TV Land, but Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, and a bunch of others. Time Warner will stop running these channels at the end of the year.

"Don't let this happen!", the crawl says. "Call Time Warner and DEMAND they keep these channels!" An 800 number followed.

I tried the number and got a brief "technical difficulties, please try again" message, which translated into "we're getting so many calls we can't handle the load".

I finally did get through, and heard a different message. The gist of it was that Time Warner is negotiating with MTV Networks for continuing broadcast rights. Time Warner says it's negotiating in good faith and is continuing to do so, and that MTV Networks basically is being difficult.

So we have a he said / she said situation. And it looks like MTV is looking for a payday.

I guess we'll see what happens in about thirteen hours.

You've heard this before, I'm sure. But it bears repeating.

Please be careful out there. Don't drink and drive. If you're gonna get bombed, give a friend your keys. Or take a taxi. Or use one of those free services.

Someone out there loves you. Do it for them, if not for yourself.

I work in television news, and I have friends/family in law enforcement. We don't need the extra work. Really. We'd like nothing more than to have a nice, boring night. Don't drink and drive.
