Getting Better

Memorial Day 2009.

While you're out with the family, be it watching fireworks or having a backyard cookout, remember what this day really signifies.

To the men and women in uniform, past and present - thank you.

Today I made it a point to break out the camera and take some pictures.

First:

Remember the little facial wound she has in her first picture? It's healed completely.

Now, look at this one:

The fur on her leg is growing back, and her stripes are returning. Her leg is sometimes still a little bit off-to-the-side, but since she chases Solange (and vice versa) at full speed around the apartment, I'd say it's not hampering her.

We're still asking for donations for the vet bill. Everyone's generosity has been amazing, but there's still a ways to go.

One month ago, Laila was hit by the car.

She went through this hole in the fence...with a broken leg.

She then went through another hole in another fence...with a broken leg.

She then climbed these steps to my back door...with a broken leg.
