On Top Of The World

2009-07-02 - 11:13 a.m.

Yesterday we got yet another new game - a test piece from a local game manufacturer. We've worked with this company before, and have been the beta test location for many of their games. Some have made it to the market, some have gone down in flames. And some we have purchased for the arcade.

Anyway, the GM told me that assembling it and putting it on the floor was my only job for the evening. So I was in no hurry.

Wrong.

The president of the game company showed up with a tech to make sure the game was working. When I told them it had arrived less than an hour before and I hadn't set it up yet, they offered to help.

Wonderful - except that I got to load the pieces onto a dolly and move them to the spot where the game would be...pretty much all by myself (the tech and Walter did help with the final, largest piece).

The tech did put it together very quickly (no surprise there), and I then installed one of our ticket dispensers. It fired right up and seemed popular with kids and adults alike.

The downside was muscle ache and exhaustion later in the evening. Walter asked if I was all right, and understood about my being wiped out - he said I was "really sweating" when I was moving the game pieces.

Anyway, I finally came home and collapsed.

Best. Pyramid. Winner's. Circle. Ever.

Well, Brin and I are going to shelter in place and probably make it to the Park later tonight when it's cooler.

Be seeing you.
