Saturday In The [Ball] Park

2008-04-24 - 11:32 a.m.

So I worked a day shift yesterday as a favor to my boss. After I was done there, I got Chinese food and came home to watch the Angels beat the Red Sox.

It was kinda surreal - it didn't feel like a Wednesday. It felt more like a weekend.

At about 7pm I remembered that I needed to get a replacement mount for my tom-tom (that's the piece that I thought I had temporarily repaired - turns out the wing nut DIDN'T work). So I got dressed again and headed out to Sam Ash.

Not only did I get the mount but I also found a part for my mic stand that I needed. Then I came home and watched South Park.

So it could have been a Saturday in disguise.

Right now this instant, the Angels are losing to the Sox 1-0 in the bottom of the 4th.

Baseball on a day off. Love it.

Here's an article in the New York Times that talks about Hillary's still-unpaid bills.

And the NYT supports Hillary - or do they?

===

John Stossel talks about the mortgage "crisis" and how things really aren't as bad as they're being made out to be. In fact, they aren't even as bad as they were during Carter's presidency.

I honestly wonder how many folks remember that, way back in the 70s, it was the government's idea that lenders needed to loosen their standards so folks could have the "American dream" of owning their own home. That's part of what led to the offering of sub-prime loans in the first place.

Then factor in folks who, instead of saving the extra money for those balloon payments in the future, went out and bought cars and big-screen TVs instead.

Sorry, I don't think the government should step in and help folks who signed contracts that they didn't understand...or DID understand and chose not to be prepared for an increase they KNEW was coming.

Speaking of things that cost a lot...

Two years ago, when Nancy Pelosi was elected, she said "Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices".

With $4/gallon a very real possibility for this summer, House GOP leader want to know what this plan is.

Anyone want to bet that there IS no plan?

Oh, and all those ethanol mandates that are causing food prices to skyrocket and a major store chain to limit rice sales...guess who we can blame.

===

Evidently there was another reason for the eight kids beating the crap out of one 16-year-old - not only did they want to post it on YouTube and MySpace, but the victim owed $4 in gas money to one of the bullies.

Okay, that's it - we need to take this story to Congress and DEMAND that they let us drill in ANWR. We can say "it's for the children".

Yeah. That'll work.

Attention 9/11 conspiracy theorists (and that includes YOU, Rosie O'Donnell):

Supposedly Iran is spreading a theory that Israel was behind the attacks. Look who is upset at that - and it ISN'T Israel!

Well, I have a baseball game to watch. And then a drum part to install.

And a car to clean out and wash.

Be seeing you.
