Video Killed The Radio Star

2006-06-10 - 6:41 p.m.

Got a CD in the mail today of that incredible supergroup known as McGuinn, Clark, & Hillman.

::sound of crickets chirping::

They were all members of the Byrds at one time or another.

Look! It's a picture of Brad and Angelina's baby!

:crickets wake up::

Gotcha. Now, then...

McGC&H had exactly ONE hit that I know of. It was a nice upbeat tune called "Don't You Write Her Off". It was frequently played back when CBS had an AEL station in LA called KNX-FM. After they dumped that format, they became KKHR-FM (HR = Hit Radio), then ARROW-93 (oldies rock) before now being JACK-FM.

Growing up, I loved KNX-FM. They played some beautiful stuff I haven't heard anywhere else since, including a wonderful song called "It Was Only The Radio". I loved this song so much - and still do - that I tracked down the lone album by the group, Boatz. No typo - there's really a Z at the end. The whole album turned out to be good. It's another one I pray will be re-released on CD somewhen.

Hey, they did it for Phil Seymour...

Nap time. Be seeing you.
